FAQs for Parents
What is an eVisa and what do I need to do?
UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) is currently replacing physical immigration documents with an online record of your immigration status. This is known as an eVisa.
What you need to do:
Biometric residence permits (BRPs) have already been replaced by eVisas. You need to create a UKVI account to access your eVisa and share information about your immigration status and conditions, such as your right to work or rent in the UK, using the view and prove service.
From 15 July 2025, you may not get a vignette if you apply for a study or work visa. Instead, you will need to create a UKVI account and get access to your eVisa before you travel to the UK. You’ll be told what to do when you apply.
Ensure your current passport is linked to your UKVI account before travelling outside the UK.
Need help?
For further information on how to create your UKVI account, please go to www.gov.uk/evisa.
If you need assistance accessing your eVisa, email the Visa Support Team at compliance@ncl.ac.uk.
