How do I request a deferral?
Information regarding the deferral process
We are happy to consider applicants who wish to defer entry by one year.
We understand that some students choose to gain wider experience by taking a year out. We ask you simply show on your UCAS application how you expect to spend the year.
You can apply for deferred entry after submitting your UCAS application or once you have received a decision from us.
If you would like to request a deferral after you have submitted your application, please contact our Undergraduate Admissions Team directly via our Apply to Newcastle Portal. When you apply to Newcastle University via UCAS, we will send an email to invite you to register for our Apply to Newcastle Portal where you will be able to:
- upload supporting documents, including an additional personal statement
- see how your application is progressing
- make enquiries, including requesting a deferral
Some courses at Newcastle will allow you to defer after receiving your results and accepting your place at Newcastle. This is assessed on an individual basis.
