How do I get a fees refund?

In line with guidance from the Office for Students, the University will pay fair compensation to students significantly impacted by industrial action where contingency plans fail to deliver teaching, assessment, or other promised aspects of students’ experience or to recognise the difficulties students have experienced.

We are in the process of preparing our compensation framework.  Students who have been significantly impacted by the industrial action and who are eligible for compensation will be notified, once the action is over and we are able to identify and understand those students impacted. Students will not have to have made a complaint to receive their compensation offer.

If you feel that the industrial action has had a disproportionate, detrimental impact on you that has not been addressed or mitigated by alternative arrangements in your school, you can submit a complaint under the University’s Student Complaints and Resolution Procedure

If a complaint is upheld, financial remedy is one of a number of possible options that may be offered. Financial redress for teaching and assessment disruption will be offered in line with the compensation framework being developed, with any individual factors also taken into account.

A Quick Guide to the Student Complaints and Resolution Procedure is available and we recommend that you consult this before submitting your complaint. Please ensure that you submit full documentary evidence to support your case. Complaints will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis, in accordance with the procedure.

Appeals about academic decisions should be submitted under a separate process – the Academic Queries and Appeal Procedure
