Guidance on how you can access and use the University Prayer Space safely.
The University has been working closely with the Islamic Society and colleagues in Estates to find a safe solution to allow the reopening of the KGVI Prayer Space at the earliest opportunity. Drawing on guidance from the Muslim Council of Great Britain and the University Health and Safety team, a set of guidelines have been produced that ensure the health and wellbeing of those using the space for prayer and reflection.
The Prayer Space will return to being open between 3am and midnight each day with the introduction of necessary mitigations. These include the use of facemasks, a Track and Trace system, reduced capacity and ablution facilities, and the continued suspension of Friday Prayers. As soon as guidance allows, we hope to further revise these provisions.
The Chaplaincy Service are grateful for the input and wisdom offered from across the University community throughout this process and we look forward to welcoming members of our University Muslim Community back into the Prayer Space in the coming days and weeks.
