Information for students on current IT issues at Newcastle University.
Some of you may be aware that we have been experiencing an ongoing IT issue as a result of a cyber-incident which has caused significant disruption to a number of student services. These include:
- Dissertation submission
- Accommodation applications
Please be reassured that if you are concerned about missing a deadline, needing to submit a PEC form or have any resits scheduled, don’t worry – we are aware that this issue will impact upon these processes and they will be rescheduled accordingly.
Whilst investigations are ongoing, you will be able to access a limited set of services:
- Office365 (https://office365.ncl.ac.uk)
- Your email
- Office application, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Microsoft Teams
- Canvas virtual learning environment (https://canvas.ncl.ac.uk)
If you have specific and urgent enquiries as a result of the recent cyber incident, you can contact us using the following Enquiry Form.
After investigating further into the root cause of these issues, we expect that some of the problems may take longer than normal to resolve and we will continue to keep you updated.
Where appropriate, we advise you to copy and save important data and files to your University OneDrive. New files can also be created and saved on your OneDrive. Please only transfer essential files and do not copy or send files to your personal accounts. See the guidance on using OneDrive to manage your files.
Further updates will be posted as they become available.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
