Guidance for Postgraduate Research students.
If you are a Tier 4 visa holder and require an interruption of studies as a result of Covid-19 that is longer than the one-month interruption normally permitted under Tier 4, then this may be possible without visa implications, provided that you:
- detail how Covid-19 has affected and will continue to affect your ability to study
- intend to resume your studies at the end of the interruption.
Any interruptions as a result of Covid-19 will be subject to review, on 1 February 2021 at the latest. If Covid-19 is no longer a factor in the need for further interruption from that date, then this will be reported to the Home Office and your visa may be curtailed.
If you require an Interruption of studies for a reason other than Covid-19, then the normal rules would stand and interruptions of more than one month would not normally be possible without there being implications for your visa.
If you require any further advice on your particular circumstances and what is possible, please contact the Visa Team.
