FAQs for Parents
Who can join the picket line?
The Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992 (Sections 220 and 220A) sets out the rules for lawful picketing.
Only workers involved in the dispute or union officials representing them can legally picket.
Students who don't work for Newcastle University can't join the picket line.
Local picket supervisors must ensure that outsiders, including students, are not encouraged to join the picket line.
