What is a Lateral Flow Device test?

Lateral flow devices (LFDs) are clinically-validated swab antigen tests that do not require a laboratory for processing and can turnaround rapid and accurate results within an hour. The tests are designed to test people who are not displaying any symptoms of Covid-19.

On your return to Newcastle, you should arrange to take three tests at the University’s on-campus testing centre (3- 4 days apart) in the days following your return. You should then test twice a week, either using home test kits or at the on-campus testing facility. Home tests can be ordered here.

We anticipate that we will soon be able to provide our students with home testing kits. We will communicate this with you when we have more information.
