What are the consequences for students who do not self-isolate?

Guidance for students.

We want to work with our student community to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 and to ensure that government guidance on local restrictions in place Newcastle are adhered to. Newcastle University is committed to supporting students through any periods of self-isolation.

From 28 September 2020 people in England are required to self-isolate by law if they test positive for COVID-19 or contacted by NHS Test and Trace. Police have a wide range of powers to implement these rules, including fines of up to £10,000 for repeat offences.

All students at registration are required to sign a Student Declaration, confirming their agreement to follow reasonable measures implemented by the University in 2020/21 to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). Failure to follow these measures could lead to disciplinary action by the University and even expulsion.
