From 3 December to 9 December, which will be known as the ‘student travel window’, students will be allowed to travel home. Universities have been asked to agree staggered departure dates, working with other institutions in the region to manage pressure on the transport infrastructure. You should continue to check your emails over the coming weeks for further guidance on this.
For Newcastle University students, you should continue to attend any in-person classes until the end of week 6 (Friday 4th December) and check with your academic unit that you will not miss any in-person or synchronous online classes.
The travel window dates have been selected to allow enough time for students to complete a self-isolation period should they need to at University before Christmas. Adhering to the UK Government guidance around the student travel window will help to reduce the risk of transmission to family and friends as students return home for the winter break.
