All students are expected to attend and engage with sessions that are arranged as part of their programme of study. Research shows students who attend their classes are more successful in their studies as a result. It is therefore vital that you engage with any sessions timetabled by your school, whether present in person events or on-line delivery. If you are studying away from the University this semester, you need to inform the University, by submitting an absence report if you have not done so already, or if your circumstances have changed. You can find more information about absence monitoring on our website.
The University is monitoring attendance both in person or on-line participation and where there is evidence of a lack of engagement you may receive communication from your school to enquire whether you are well, needing additional support or wish to remain on your programme.
For International students, where there is evidence of lack of participation and engagement, the University is required to report this to the Home Office. This may impact upon your visa to study.
For Home students, where there is evidence of a lack of participation and engagement, the University is required to report this to the Student Loan Company. This may impact upon your maintenance and tuition fee payments
