Rapid (LFD) testing in 2021 (asymptomatic testing)
Newcastle University students can book a free rapid LFD Covid-19 test here, through our testing centre at the Frederick Douglass Centre.
If you are going to be in Newcastle and on Campus, you will need to make arrangements to take two rapid tests three days apart as soon as possible, including those who have remained on campus over the Winter Break. This applies unless you are arriving from another country and are required to self-isolate for 10 days.
By taking a test, even if you don’t have symptoms, you can help keep your family members and your community back home safe. Once you have taken your test you should limit your contact with others until you get your result (normally within 30 minutes).
For all other students, tests will continue to be available when we are able to plan for a return to present in-person teaching and you will be asked to take two tests three days apart when returning for any face to face on-campus activity once this is possible.
Please note that you should not attend a rapid testing appointment should you display symptoms of Covid-19 or any of the following apply.
Remember that you will need to book TWO Tests. Where possible these should be 3 days apart, if this is not possible this can be extended to 5 days. If you have any queries please get in touch: For students: Covid Support (email@example.com) For colleagues: Occupational health (firstname.lastname@example.org )
You can and should get a free NHS test if:
- you have any symptoms of coronavirus (a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste)
- you're getting a test for someone you live with who has symptoms
- you have been told to get a test before you go into hospital, for example, for surgery
- your local council asks you to get a test
- you're taking part in a Government pilot project
If you have symptoms, get a test as soon as possible. You need to get the test done in the first 5 days of having symptoms.
