How can I access the 'Test for Release' Scheme?

All international students entering the UK will still need to self-isolate for 10 days on arrival, unless they have travelled from a country included on the Government’s ‘travel corridors’ list. You will be able to access support from the University whilst you are self-isolating – please see our webpages for details of the support that is available.

Please follow the Government’s Safer Travel Guidance for Passengers, when travelling to your accommodation.

You can reduce the time you are required to self-isolate if you participate in the Government’s voluntary ‘Test to Release’ scheme. The list of approved providers of PCR tests for this scheme can be found here – local providers include Newcastle Premier Health (or NPH, who are based at Newcastle Airport).

Please note: The NHS and University Covid tests cannot be used for the ‘Test to Release’ scheme. You must book your test with an approved provider who is included on the Government’s list.
