Will the local measures in Newcastle affect me accessing on-campus teaching?

Schools, colleges and universities remain open and are operating in a COVID-secure way.

Additional measures have been put in place to control the spread of the virus and to avoid even more restrictive lockdown measures in future. The aim is to try and reduce transmission in social situations where there is a higher risk of transmission.

Local measures will not affect your ability to return to Newcastle, nor will the measures impact upon the quality of the education you will receive. It may however mean we have to reduce some present in-person teaching activity we planned to deliver. We will review the balance of our blended learning on a weekly basis in the context of the local, regional and national picture to ensure the safety of our University community.

The new academic year will start as planned on 28 September 2020. Teaching will begin for the majority of students on 19 October 2020.

We are working hard to increase safety measures across campus, including enhanced targeted cleaning, one-way systems, and social distancing and face-covering rules.
